I'm not asking to make a topurnament-winning deck. It still needs to be fun to play. But your point is valid. Basicly if you're the predator of a combat-deck, you get rushed from both sides. So the predator will die most easily, giving the VP to the grandpredator. Usually, the grandpredator has had an easy time building up (since his/her prey was being knocked down by the combat deck) that he/she can now sweep the combat deck. If he fails, he dies, giving the VP to his predator (again not to the combat deck).

I gues the best way for such a deck is to kill your predator each time, so each player gets 1 VP and the combat deck takes the win. But the again, the prey of that deck has had an easier time, because the combat deck had to divided its resources that it could easily have osted a prey and take 2 VPs and make it a draw in the end.

Anyway, I guess this was a bunch of complicated gibberish, wghich was difficult to read for you guys. All I mean to say is, I'm unconvinced of that strategy and I would like to be playing at a table where it works. For example: we've all seen Bram play his chaundice. Usually he lasts until there are only 2 players left and then takes the game, scoring 2 VP. And that'x the best case scenario. If anyone else at that table ousts 2 people, it will be a draw and if anyone manages to oust 3, it's even worse. So even the best case scenario isn't good.

Hm, I get what you are saying with the strategy about predator. I have some experience with playing a deck that had a lot of table control (masika - anneke wall with assault rifles) and I never wanted anybody to die besides my prey. But that strategy didn't work that well ... you have a lot of people that state you should let people die; maybe just try to influence the table so the 'right' one dies, the one that is hardest for you to kill.
For me in playing a combat deck the key is to cripple your predator just enough so he can survive and isn't a treat but that balance is very difficult.
What makes a combat deck even harder is that the good cards that helps you oust people work for everybody (tension it ranks, dragonbound, ....)
and a lot of times you help somebody else.
But some people are able to make TW combat D, euro brujah is probably one of the most succesfull (because they have access to intercept, bounce and bleed). Oortje (Jeroen who is a dutch player) who makes really original decks and is a great player won a small tournament last year with torvus (gangrel) combat wallish deck.: www.secretlibrary.info/index.php?deck=view&id=10024
Also tupdog decks, despite it is very very hard, have won tournaments. Also Emiliano's Maris war ghoul and nephandus deck (I think Emiliano made the first nephandus molokov coctail deck) are in a (ally) way (great) combat decks.

the gangrel-deck you linked seems pretty cool. I notice it does have some bleed cards too. It's not the general "I hit your famed-vampire into torpor"-kind of combat deck :)

I will try to build a "I hit your famed-vampire into torpor"-deck ^^

Just wondering ... what is the best combo :
- send the famed vampire in torpor and be sure it never goes out (carver's meat package for example), and use the dragonbound (and optionnaly a graverobbing) ?
- send the famed vampire in torpor and rescue it to send it back again (with an optional Tension in the Ranks ...) ?

Muaha ! Good fight coming :)

very very hard question:
carvers is only for small caps, combat deck faces a lot of crosstable rescues, you need pool for paying the fame as well, dragonbound reduces your handsize and graverobbing tends to be hard to pull off.
second option is equally difficult: you need several vampires or 1/2 with a lot of multi-act and multi-rush and being able to pay the blood.
The problem with combat decks is card intensity ... that s why I choose chaundice, 1 disarm or raking talons is enough (in 50% of cases) ...

I saw an idea for a really cool deck. Sadly, I only understand half of how it works:
